PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Department of Corrections and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management say they will conduct a Horse Adoption Event in Florence this week.
Officials say up for adoption will be 25 wild horses, 10 wild burros, three saddle-trained horses and two pack-trained burros. The event is set for Friday and Saturday at the Wild Horse & Burro Training Facility in Florence.
The Department of Corrections has partnered with the federal government to allow inmates to work with the animals to ensure they’re ready for public adoption.
A public viewing of the horses and burros begins at 8 a.m. Friday. Adoptions are set for Saturday morning.
