BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A Buffalo businessman says he’ll challenge Congressman Brian Higgins in the Democratic primary.

Emin “Eddie” Egriu (Ee-grew) announced his candidacy in the western New York district on Monday.

Egriu is a 52-year-old contractor and former project director of a community group committed to revitalizing city neighborhoods.

He is the second person to enter the race for the 26th Congressional District in recent days. Last week, Republican Kathy Weppner, a former radio talk show host, announced her candidacy.

Higgins is serving his fifth term.
