RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A western South Dakota sheriff is warning residents about “aggressive” salespeople that have recently gone door-to-door offering magazines.

Pennington County Sheriff Kevin Thom says he has received numerous complaints from residents in Rapid City, New Underwood and Box Elder about the individuals selling magazines.

The sheriff’s office says residents have reported that the salespeople were very “aggressive.” Thom says the individuals often entered businesses and homes without permission and later refused to leave.

Thom says the salespeople are offering magazines for Encore, Inc., which is based in Kittredge, Colo.

He urges the public to refuse to allow the salespeople to enter their homes or businesses. He says residents should not give out any personal information about themselves or their families.
