FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A Fargo doctor who heads the department of surgery at the University of North Dakota medical school is accused of malpractice.

Gina and Jason Bowles have filed a federal lawsuit against Dr. Robert Sticca. The suit alleges that Sticca removed the wrong rib from Gina Bowles in February 2013.

The couple says Bowles needed additional surgery and that resulted in pain, suffering, disability and emotional distress. They’re seeking at least $75,000 in damages.

Sticca is the chairman and program director of the department of surgery at UND.

KFGO radio (https://bit.ly/MDUJey ) reports that Sticca did not respond to requests for comment. Court documents do not list a lawyer for Sticca.
