PAYSON, Ariz. (AP) - State regulators say the cleanup of a groundwater pollution at a site in Payson is complete.
The Department of Environmental Quality says the site is the second Arizona superfund site to be removed from the state’s registry upon completion of cleanup work. A site in central Phoenix was the first.
The department says ground water at the Payson site was polluted by contamination from a former dry-cleaning business.
Testing of ground water found high levels of contaminants when the site was added to a state registry in 2000, but the department says contaminants levels in monitoring levels have now at permissible levels since 2006.
