PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say a 4-year-old girl has died and five people are injured, including a pregnant woman who underwent emergency delivery, after a three-car collision.

Authorities say the woman was driving a Ford Explorer southbound on 83rd Avenue near Osborn Road at about 7:15 p.m. Friday when it side-swiped a Chevy Malibu going north.

Sgt. Steve Martos says the Ford Explorer continued across the northbound lanes and collided almost head-on with a Nissan Frontier pickup.

According to police, the pickup was carrying four people, including the 4-year-old. The girl died shortly after arriving at a hospital.

A 3-year-old boy seated next to her is in serious but stable condition.

The pickup’s driver and other passenger are expected to recover.

Martos says the woman, who was 7 months pregnant, is in stable condition but her baby is in extremely critical condition.

Nobody in the Chevy was hurt.
