A U.S. citizen is one of three teenagers kidnapped in the West Bank. Israeli soldiers looking for the children believe they may have been abducted by Palestinian militants.

“The main mission is to ensure their return,” said military spokesman Brig. Gen. Motti Almoz, the Associated Press reported Friday.

The missing teenagers are part of of religious seminary and have not been seen since Thursday night.

If the teens turn out to have been kidnapped by Palestinians, AP said that it would be the first serious incident to challenge relations with Israel since the formation of a Palestinian unity government in early June.
