TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The recreational harvest of amberjack and gray triggerfish in Florida waters in the Gulf of Mexico closes until later this summer.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the recreational harvest of snook in Atlantic state and federal waters also closes on Sunday. The commission adds that seasonal harvest closures help conserve Florida’s fish populations and improve the fishery for the future.
For amberjack and triggerfish, the season reopens August 1. In federal Gulf waters, greater amberjack will be closed during that same period. Gray triggerfish will be closed through December 31.
Snook will reopen for harvest in Atlantic federal and state waters on September 1. Snook is also closed for harvest in Gulf of Mexico state and federal waters, including Everglades National Park, reopening September 1.
