BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Retiring Virginia Tech Police Chief Wendell Flinchum will be honored Thursday with a reception.

Media outlets report that the reception is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Inn at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.

Flinchum’s last day as police chief is Friday. He has served as Virginia Tech’s police chief since 2006. He joined the school’s police department in 1985 as a patrolman.



Maj. Kevin Foust will serve as acting chief until a permanent chief is named.
