NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The sentencing of former St. Tammany Parish Coroner Peter Galvan has been postponed because of the extreme cold and icy conditions hitting the greater New Orleans area.

U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan had set sentencing for Galvan for 2 p.m. Wednesday. The New Orleans Advocate (https://bit.ly/1f9hU9f ) reports Morgan, in an order Monday, pushed the date back two weeks, to Feb. 12.

Galvan pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to commit theft. He’s admitted using his public office for private gain by cashing in on unearned sick and vacation leave, using taxpayer dollars to buy equipment for his private plane and boat, and using one of his office’s employees to do work under a contract that profited his private medical practice.

He faces up to 24 months in prison.
