ASHLAND, Ky. (AP) - A water main break in Ashland has left thousands of residents without running water.
The break on Monday night on Carter Avenue drained the city’s storage tanks, leaving up to 7,000 customers without water.
Ryan Eastwood, Ashland’s director of engineering and utilities, told WSAZ-TV in Huntington, W.Va., (https://bit.ly/1hIRQ6M ) that it could be Wednesday before service is fully restored.
Residents in Ashland, Catlettsburg, Westwood and parts of Summit were affected by the water main break. Eastwood says when service is restored, it will be a slow trickle as tanks are refilled.
Officials have set up water distributions sites at Ashland Community and Technical College, Central Park and Oakview Elementary. Customers can also bring containers to the water company on Winchester to have them filled.
