JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - A sailing of the Alaska state ferry LeConte has been canceled.

KINY (https://is.gd/sKl6EF) says Tuesday’s voyage was canceled because of mechanical issues with the vessel’s port engine.

State transportation spokesman Jeremy Woodrow says the problem arose during an attempted sailing of the northern Lynn Canal route from Juneau to Haines and Skagway and back.

According to Woodrow, the LeConte had to turn around.

Mechanics are on board assessing the problem and Woodrow says updates will be provided as available.
