PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Police say a woman was seriously injured as she jumped out of a moving vehicle to escape a kidnapper in the Portland suburb of Milwaukie.
Lt. Robert Wurpes of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded Monday night to what was reported as a pedestrian hit by a car.
But the woman told deputies she had been working alone at a tanning salon when a man assaulted her and then forced her outside to a purple minivan. She was able to escape as the man drove.
Wurpes says the woman is in her 20s, but he declined to release her name.
The sheriff’s office said Tuesday that officers are looking for a 49-year-old man they believe is armed and dangerous. They released photos from surveillance video.
