HERMISTON, Ore. (AP) - The Hermiston City Council voted unanimously to authorize the issuance of up to $5.5 million in general revenue bonds to help pay for a wastewater treatment plant that’s under construction.
The East Oregonian newspaper (https://is.gd/hlGqBB) reports the bonds will also finance the extension of a $1.25 million water main to Oregon State University’s Hermiston Agricultural Research and Extension Center.
The new line will allow the experiment station to irrigate an additional 60 acres of new crops.
Also Monday, the council passed an ordinance annexing 168 acres of the experiment station into the city limits.
