BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - McLean County officials say an Illinois State University student whose body was found in a Bloomington field died from exposure.
Coroner Beth Kimmerling says a preliminary autopsy shows 19-year-old Yusuf J. Ahmad died from exposure. His body was discovered Sunday morning around 7:30 a.m. about three miles from campus.
The Oak Lawn native didn’t have any obvious signs of trauma.
Kimmerling says authorities believe he’d left a Bloomington hotel and collapsed. Investigators say he wasn’t dressed properly for below-freezing temperatures and single-digit wind chills.
Meanwhile, Kimmerling’s office says a 20-year-old former ISU student who was found dead this weekend in an apartment had a blood clot.
Katie R. Borenstein’s death isn’t related to Ahmad’s. And it isn’t considered suspicious.
