MONROE, Mich. (AP) - Whiteout conditions are reported on some Michigan roadways, with gusting winds and blowing snow making travel treacherous.

Roads are slippery Monday, with icy conditions on freeways and surface streets alike. WWJ-AM reports visibility dropped to zero along Interstate 75 in Monroe County in southeastern Michigan, prompting some to stop until conditions improved.

In the Grand Rapids area, The Grand Rapids Press reports a state trooper was treated after his vehicle was struck Monday morning on Interstate 96. WOOD-TV reports southbound U.S. 131 was closed due to multiple crashes.



In Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, authorities say M-28 between Harvey and Munising was reopened around midday Monday after being closed blowing and drifting snow.

Fresh snow fell Sunday night and Monday morning. Over the weekend, weather contributed to crashes that killed three people.
