PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Officials with the American Red Cross say they’re helping 14 people in three families who were left homeless after a fire damaged a multifamily home in Providence.

City officials say the fire on Rosedale Street Sunday morning sent residents of the home scrambling to safety, but everyone was able to make it out unharmed. Firefighters say the house is uninhabitable.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

The American Red Cross says it is helping the families with emergency housing, food and clothing needs. One family includes two adults and three children, another has three adults and the third has two adults and four children.

The Red Cross has also given the families personal care kits that include toothbrushes, deodorant and shaving supplies.
