FULTON, Miss. (AP) - An Itawamba County man has pleaded guilty to charges that he killed his neighbors in 2011.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/19XzZcK ) that Jake Carpenter entered the plea Monday in circuit court to two counts of two counts of capital murder.
Law enforcement says Carpenter stabbed Fred and Mildred House in March 24, 2011. The bodies of the husband and wife were found in their home.
After Carpenter murdered the couple, prosecutors say Carpenter took their vehicle and many of their personal items to a girlfriend’s house in Russellville, Ala., where he was eventually taken into custody.
Carpenter was arrested two days after the stabbing and has been held without bond in the Itawamba County Jail since.
Sentencing is pending.
