LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A homeless man charged in a deadly stabbing in Las Cruces is now facing charges of using his brother’s identity.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports (https://bit.ly/1i1u72m ) court documents indicate a grand jury indicted 52-year-old Ronald Miller Thursday on second-degree murder, evidence tampering and identity theft.

Las Cruces police say Miller’s brother, who lives out of state, reported receiving a $35,000 bill Dec. 17 for being airlifted to an El Paso, Texas hospital.

Police say Miller stabbed 55-year-old David Jones in November but told police both men had been jumped by a group. Jones was hospitalized with a small stab wound.

Prosecutors say a background check of his real name shows 13 convictions and an acquittal of a 2001 murder charge.

Miller is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 3.
