DALLAS (AP) - A report by the Texas Education Agency says the charter school co-founded by NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders failed to conduct background checks on more than a dozen employees, including Sanders.
The agency noted a former superintendent signed compliance forms in April and November certifying that all Prime Prep Academy background checks had been conducted.
Interim Superintendent Ron Price told The Dallas Morning News (https://dallasne.ws/1d2KUN8) that all current employees now have undergone the proper checks, as required by state law.
The TEA is also looking at claims of violations in other areas, including allegations of conflict of interest and a lack of highly qualified teachers.
Separately, administrators have told authorities that 100 laptop computers have disappeared from the school, which has campuses in Dallas and Fort Worth.
