MONTELLO, Nev. (AP) - An Elko County man has been ordered to stand trial on felony charges in the shooting of his former handyman from Salt Lake City outside a rural bar near the Nevada-Utah line.
Ronald Culley is accused of shooting Lester Alderman in the ankle and foot outside the Cowboy Bar in Montello in December about 40 miles north of West Wendover.
Justice of the Peace Mason Simons bound him over at a preliminary hearing Thursday to Elko County District Court on counts of battery with the use of a deadly weapon and/or battery with a deadly weapon resulting in bodily harm.
Alderman says the two went outside the bar to clear the air about Culley’s accusations he’d been stealing from him when Culley fired three shots, striking him in the ankle.
