BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Western Kentucky University is planning a reception to celebrate the history of one of its campus buildings that is being closed.

The 4 p.m. reception in the Thompson Complex’s North Wing on Thursday will include appearances by President Gary Ransdell and Ogden College Dean Cheryl Stevens.

The building will be permanently closed on Friday and eventually razed as part of an expansion of the Thompson Complex Center Wing.

The university announced last year that it was closing the north wing because of failing ventilation systems. The north wing opened in 1960 and had most recently housed the biology department and some chemistry offices.
