SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Utah businessman ensnared in the scandal that forced former Attorney General John Swallow from office says he faces exaggerated charges in a criminal case in Utah.
Jeremy Johnson says Swallow colluded with one prosecutor in the federal criminal case and a second involved in a separate federal lawsuit he faces in Las Vegas.
Prosecutors in both cases say Johnson’s internet company I Works tricked consumers with bogus internet services.
Johnson alleges in a filing for the federal suit that the three men orchestrated the criminal fraud charges to pressure him to settle the civil case.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1mMdCdx) Swallow’s attorney Rod Snow says Swallow was not involved.
Swallow resigned late last year but denies any wrongdoing. He has not been charged with any crimes.
