WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man police allege was drunk when he drove the wrong way on the Massachusetts Turnpike and caused a fatal crash has pleaded not guilty.
The Telegram & Gazette (https://bit.ly/1aNUMuu ) reports that Dwayne Blackman was released on $5,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty on Wednesday in Worcester Superior Court to charges including drunken driving and vehicular homicide.
Authorities allege the 33-year-old Blackman of Leominster (LEH’-min-stuhr) was driving east in the westbound lanes of the highway in Auburn in the early morning hours of July 21 when he caused a three-vehicle crash.
The driver of one of the other vehicles, 66-year-old Kathleen Borngesser of Toms River, N.J., died.
Blackman’s lawyer has refused comment on the case.
