ESPANOLA, N.M. (AP) - Classes for a northern New Mexico charter school have been canceled after authorities say the school received “a general threat.”

New Mexico State Police spokesman Emmanuel Gutierrez said Wednesday that classes were canceled for McCurdy Charter School in Espanola as a precautionary measure. He said no students were on campus and no students have been injured nor specifically threatened.

Officials say a student sent a text to a fellow student early Wednesday warning the student not to go to school “something was going to happen.”

Gutierrez says investigators are looking into the validity of the threat.

He says no arrests were made.

School is scheduled to resume Thursday.
