DOVER, Del. (AP) - The Delaware National Guard says it has prepositioned personnel and vehicles to support the state’s response to a major winter storm.

Major Gen. Frank Vavala (VAV-uh-luh) said Tuesday that the Guar is working with the Delaware Emergency Management Agency and is ready to support the state as needed.

Officials say the Guard’s Task Force North at Stern Armory in Newport has 12 Humvees and other vehicles on standby and will support Wilmington and New Castle County emergency operations centers.

The Guard’s Task Force South, located at the Smyrna and Georgetown armories, also has vehicles and drivers ready and will support the Sussex County EOC in Georgetown and DEMA headquarters in Smyrna.
