MILTON, W.Va. (AP) - Union workers are hoping they can persuade SuperValu to keep its food distribution center in Milton open.
SuperValu announced last week that it will close the facility in April and consolidate the operation with a facility in Pennsylvania.
Teamsters Local 505 president Ken Hall tells The Herald-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1eKBSXv ) that the union plans to meet with SuperValu on Monday. Union members also plan to circulate a petition statewide urging the company to keep the Milton facility open.
The union represents 60 of the Milton facility’s nearly 100 workers.
Fifty-five-year-old Barry Dailey of Ona has worked at the facility since he was 18. He says he’s concerned about being able to find another job.
