MORAGA, Ca (AP) - Stephen Holt led the way, scoring 26 points as St. Mary’s (Cal) overcame a Pacific halftime lead and won 79-73 on Saturday night.
Brad Waldow contributed 22 points and Kerry Carter added 21 in the Gaels winning effort.
Pacific (10-7, 1-5 West Coast) led St. Mary’s 38-31 at the break, but Waldow scored nine of St. Mary’s (14-5, 4-2) first 12 second half points and the Gaels were back in the game tied at 47 with 12:47 remaining.
Holt and Waldow combined for 14 points over the next four minutes and the Gaels overtook Pacific, leading 61-54 with 8:11 remaining.
Kerry Carter followed with 3 treys and St. Mary’s took a 14 point lead into the final stretch. Pacific responded with a 12-2 effort leading into the final minute but fell short of closing the gap.
Tony Gill led Pacific with 16 points.
