OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Legislation moving through the state House and Senate would require training in Washington’s public record law for newly elected or appointed officials.
The officials could be trained online. The Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1cCdyog ) the attorney general’s office already has the information on its website.
Backers told a Senate committee hearing Thursday that requiring training would curtail violations and costly lawsuits.
Lawmakers also are discussing an update to the open meetings law that would require governing bodies to post agendas online at least 24 hours in advance.
