ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - Thirteen teams are competing to be the best snow sculptors in Illinois.
The Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition runs through Saturday in Rockford. It’s the 28th annual competition in the state. Last year’s competition was canceled because there wasn’t enough snow. This year there was a delay getting snow ready for the competition. That’s because last week’s sub-zero temperatures kept volunteers from moving snow to the competition site from the Chicago Rockford International Airport.
The winner goes on to compete next year and represent Illinois at the U.S. National Snow Sculpting Competition. The Rockford Register Star reports (https://bit.ly/1asJWcZ) team designs range from owls to dragons to unicorns.
Judging and awards are Saturday.
