DETROIT (AP) - Police say a gunman in a vehicle opened fire on people in an SUV on Detroit’s east side, wounding three before fleeing.

Sgt. Michael Woody tells The Associated Press that officers responded shortly after 1:30 a.m. Friday and found three people had been shot.

Woody says a 34-year-old man was taken to a Detroit hospital with gunshot wounds to the forehead and forearm. He says a woman believed to be about 33 years old was shot in the thumb and neck, and a 31-year-old woman was shot in the buttocks.

Woody says all were in temporary serious condition.

Police say the shooter may have been in a black pickup truck. Woody says police initially thought a fourth person had wounded, but that turned out to be a separate incident.
