FARMINGTON, Mo. (AP) - One of two men facing murder charges in the death of a southeast Missouri tattoo artist has waived his preliminary hearing.

The Daily Journal newspaper in Park Hills, Mo. (https://bit.ly/K2LxQ9 ) reports that Brent Bouren of St. Louis waived the hearing Tuesday. A trial date has not been set but Bouren is due back in court for arraignment on March 5.

Bouren is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Sam Francis, a Cape Girardeau tattoo artist who went missing in December 2012. His body was found in a septic tank near Bonne Terre on July 25.

A second man, Melvin Scherrer, is charged with first-degree murder in the case. Scherrer has yet to make a court appearance since he was charged in the summer.
