CHICAGO (AP) - Inclement weather has stalled the search for a woman who fell into the Chicago River with two male friends as they sought to retrieve a dropped cellphone.
Authorities say a search by divers for a 21-year-old woman was temporarily called off Tuesday because of limited visibility in the water, exacerbated by overcast skies.
Twenty-six-year-old Ken Hoang (HWANG) from St. Paul, Minn. was trying to retrieve a cellphone he’d dropped on the ice when he fell into the water early Monday. Hoang was pronounced dead after being rescued.
One of two friends who tried to help Hoang, a 23-year-old man, was rescued and is reported in fair condition at a Chicago hospital.
Authorities say it hasn’t been determined when the search for the missing woman will resume.
