BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) - A section of W.Va. Route 3 in Raleigh County remains closed more than two weeks after a rock slide.
Crews are working to stabilize the mountainside near Sundial.
Department of Transportation spokeswoman Carrie Bly tells The Register-Herald (https://bit.ly/1fun5p0 ) that the road might not reopen for another week or two.
Bly says transportation officials know the road’s closure is frustrating for residents in the area. But she says there’s a high potential for additional slides.
Workers cleared a minor slide that occurred along the road Monday.
Emergency vehicles are allowed to cross the road during the day when cleanup crews are working.
The road has been closed to general traffic since three large boulders fell on Dec. 27. Bly says the boulders have been crushed and removed.
