OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office is warning of an attempt to scam residents through telephone calls.
The sheriff’s office says residents have reported being called and told that the caller is with a law enforcement agency or a court and that the person must pay for outstanding warrants either through a money wire or a prepaid credit card.
The sheriff’s office says residents who are wanted are not asked for cash in this manner and that anyone who is contacted should call local law enforcement and file a report.
The sheriff’s office says residents can find out if there is a warrant online at https://www.oklahomacounty.org/sheriff/warrantsearch and that any fees owed can be found at https://www.oklahomacounty.org/courtclerk/Criminal.aspx .
