EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A restored World War II troop landing ship that’s moored in Evansville has attracted the attention of a British television production company.
A British crew is scheduled to visit Evansville next week to shoot video of the LST-325 for an upcoming WWII documentary.
LST-325 board of directors member Chris Donahue tells the Evansville Courier & Press (https://bit.ly/NkXxyy ) the production company will visit Evansville Feb. 14-15.
He says the LST-325 “is the only LST in the world that is operational and looks like it did in World War II.” The LST-325 served in the Allied invasions of Sicily and Salerno, Italy, as well as at Normandy.
Donahue says this won’t be the ship’s first cameo in a WWII television program. It was also featured in a 2007 History Channel series.
