NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) - A New York college student is recovering after being rescued from the icy waters near a Westchester County marina.

Police say the Monroe College student was sitting on a sea wall listening to music at the Hudson Park Road marina in New Rochelle early Friday morning when he slipped on ice and fell in.

According to the Journal News (https://lohud.us/1ng0j2D ), police found the 20-year-old man chest-deep in the water screaming for help.

Police officers from the New Rochelle police department responded after residents called police.

Police say the student showed signs of suffering from hypothermia after being pulled out. They believe he was in the water about 10 minutes.

He was taken to a hospital and was expected to be released later Friday.
