ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A northeastern Pennsylvania man who drove a homicide victim’s car to North Carolina has now been charged with her death.
Twenty-four-year-old Anthony Darrell Heath of Allentown was charged Friday with homicide, theft, evidence tampering, abuse of a corpse and related counts.
Heath was extradited to Pennsylvania on a car theft charge after his arrest last weekend in North Carolina driving the stolen car of 35-year-old Angela Steigerwalt of Tamaqua. The homicide-related counts were added Friday afternoon.
Heath will be held without bail at Lehigh County prison.
Steigerwalt was found dead in Jim Thorpe by firefighters putting out a roadside brush fire.
Pennsylvania State Police said they believe Heath killed the victim in Allentown. She was last seen leaving work the night before her body was found.
