ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A group is seeking to reopen Out North, a performing arts venue in Anchorage that closed last summer after nearly three decades in operations.

The Anchorage Daily News (https://is.gd/QsYnlT) says the group of individuals previously was involved with Out North. The venue had been the site of art shows, alternative theater, dance productions and community workshops.

Artist Ruby Jones says a board consisting of herself and four others plans to hold a public meeting Saturday to explain plans for the East Anchorage building and to generate ideas from the community.

The doors open at 5 p.m. and a presentation by the board is set to start at 6 p.m. Saturday.

After the presentation, there will be a screening of an independently produced film, “The Wisdom Tree.”
