CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Republican state Rep. Richard Floyd of Chattanooga says he won’t run for re-election.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press (https://bit.ly/1fOXFjI) cited a statement from Floyd in reporting that his decision stems from a desire to spend more time with family and to properly recover from surgery.

In his statement, Floyd said his constituents had his “deepest appreciation” for the “great privilege” of being allowed to represent District 27. He said he has tried to serve “honestly, fairly and with integrity.”

Said Floyd: “Serving in our state government will always remain one of my life’s greatest experiences.”
