WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Convicted Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein was back in a South Florida courtroom, testifying in the trial of a former colleague charged with playing a role in the $1.2 billion scam.
Rothstein testified Wednesday in federal court in West Palm Beach on behalf of Christina Kitterman, who worked for him at the now-defunct Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler law firm in Fort Lauderdale.
Kitterman is on trial for wire fraud. Prosecutors say she falsely claimed to be a Florida Bar official in a conference call with Rothstein investors who were complaining about not getting paid. Kitterman’s role was to tell investors the accounts were frozen as part of a Bar investigation.
The Palm Beach Post (https://bit.ly/1nbdjGu ) reports Rothstein testified Kitterman was not aware of the fraud. Rothstein is serving a 50-year prison sentence.
