HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) - The case against 23-year-old Kwame Becton, charged in an attack on an 86-year-old Southaven woman, has been sent to the grand jury following Becton’s initial court appearance on Wednesday.
The Commercial Appeal reports (https://bit.ly/1kg8uyA ) Becton was extradited to DeSoto County from Illinois last week. He is accused in the Dec. 30 attack on Georgie McKee in her home.
Police said McKee was found by a family friend with a black eye and bruises all over her body.
Her car was found in Forest Park, a suburb of Chicago. Police later arrested Becton and returned to Mississippi.
Becton was charged by Southaven police with aggravated assault with a weapon or other means to produce death, felony taking of a motor vehicle, burglary of a house and violation of probation.
