ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the 65-mile stretch of Interstate 84 in New York state has been reopened after being closed to all traffic because of severe weather.

Cuomo announced Tuesday that I-84 between the Pennsylvania and Connecticut borders would be closed to tandem tractor-trailers starting at midnight. The ban was extended to all commercial and passenger vehicles around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The highway was reopened shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The storm has already dumped to up a foot of snow on parts of New York’s Southern Tier. Forecasters say some upstate areas could get up to 16 inches.
