NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - An assistant prosecutor in Norfolk says she was handling a matter in circuit court when a district judge found her in contempt for not being in his courtroom.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Catherine Paxson says she’s appealing the Jan. 7 ruling by District Judge S. Clark Daugherty that also fined her $250.
Court records show Paxson told a clerk in Daugherty’s courtroom that she needed to attend to a brief matter in circuit court.
The Virginian-Pilot (https://bit.ly/1bpwfw7) reports a certificate signed by Daugherty shows Paxson was more than an hour late for the district court docket and apologized to the judge for the conflict.
