HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Huntington man has pleaded guilty to possessing more than a kilo of heroin.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said Monday that Alvester Thomas entered the plea in federal court in Huntington.

Goodwin says Thomas admitted to intending to distribute 1,000 grams or more of heroin. The heroin was found in a safe inside his home.

Goodwin says federal agents also seized hundreds of prescription pills, about three pounds of marijuana, a gun and more than $17,000 in cash.

Thomas faces up to life in prison and a $10 million fine. Sentencing is set for May 9.
