MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - A New Castle school counselor faces sexual exploitation charges for allegedly giving male students drugs and alcohol and taking nude photographs of them, often with hidden cameras.

U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett announced the charges against Darrell Hughes, 55, of Muncie at a news conference Monday.

Hughes faces one count of sexual exploitation and two counts of attempted sexual exploitation. The Star Press and The Courier-Times in New Castle report he could face 15 years in prison if convicted.

Authorities say the charges stem from incidents dating from 2008 and involve five youths who met Hughes after struggling with disciplinary issues at school.

Hughes was arrested Friday. New Castle Community School Superintendent Steve Fisher says he has been suspended without pay from his job as a behavioral consultant.
