SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - February might not have been a drought-buster, but it did bring above-average rainfall to the Sacramento region.
The National Weather Service said Friday that the region is on track to receive about 4 inches of rain by the time the month ends at midnight. That would be slightly above the February average of 3.7 inches.
Forecaster Johnnie Powell says February was basically a normal month for rainfall, but it was not “a drought buster by any means.” Because of the dry conditions before February, Sacramento remains 40 percent below its usual total for the rainfall season, which begins July 1 each year.
The rain is expected to continue off and on through Sunday morning, with additional chances of rain forecast for the coming week.
