CORINTH, Miss. (AP) - Police say a 43-year-old Corinth man was stabbed to death Wednesday night while investigating a possible car burglary outside his home.

Investigators told WCBI-TV (https://bit.ly/1pD7R3d) that 59-year-old Jerry Miller has been arrested in the case.

Officers say Greg Scott heard noises outside his Nelson Street home and found Miller in the street. Windows in several vehicles had been damaged before the confrontation, police say.

When police arrived, they found Scott screaming in the kitchen of the home, where he had fled after being stabbed in the chest.

Investigators said Scott told them about the incident and where to find Miller. Scott died a short time later at a local hospital.

Police arrested Miller at his home, where they said they found the butcher knife believed used in the stabbing.

He faces a murder charge and one count of felony malicious mischief.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspect has an attorney.
