AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a downed power line forced them to shut down a heavily traveled stretch of M-59 in suburban Detroit.

The roadway has been closed in both directions for several hours Friday morning between Squirrel and Adams roads in Auburn Hills.

Motorists are being advised to take detours.

WWJ-AM says nearly 1,000 homes and businesses were without power following a related transformer problem. No injuries are reported.
