D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Police have arrested two Louisiana men and booked them with the theft of multiple weapons from a D’Iberville gun shop.
D’Iberville Police Capt. Clay Jones told The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1jEaO02 ) that Kevin Parfait, 27, and John Ross Harold, 30, both of Houma, defeated an alarm system at the front door of Cook’s Gun Shop early Thursday and stole 24 handguns and a rifle.
A D’Iberville officer, conducting business and residential checks about 1:40 a.m., saw a suspicious vehicle in the area of Wieck Road and Popp’s Ferry Road. Jones said the vehicle fled when officers tried to make contact with the occupants.
He said Harold was taken into custody after the vehicle ran off the road, went through a field and hit a tree. Parfait fled on foot and was arrested by Biloxi police at about 7:30 a.m., Jones said.
Both men were treated at Biloxi Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained in the accident.
Jones said all of the weapons were recovered.
Police said the burglary is not believed to be connected to a break-in at the gun shop in January.
It was not immediately clear whether either suspect has an attorney.
